To me, this world is so extremely bizarre, I don't understand it.

I want to challenge people's vision of daily, "normal" things and make them see how endlessly weird "normal" is.

My name is Bo, I'm a 21 year old artist and studying Fine Arts in Rotterdam. I grew up in Amsterdam, where I developed my love for drawing and painting, and since early age I like to challenge the meaning of labels and systems.
During my childhood I wanted to be a boy and didn't identify myself as a girl so I told everyone I was a 'jome' (dutch mix of the first two letters of 'boy' and 'girl').
I used to walk long distances, balancing things on my head; stones, wood, dolls...

After these years of drawing and painting I got more into making threedimensional work; sculptures, installations, fabrics. Since I started at the Willem de Kooning Academy (2019), I began experimenting more with performances, realized that this is something I really, really love to do.

I work around the theme of erasing boundaries between (certain) things, which creates absurd and sometimes even surrealistic scenes.
Why marinate a rabbit when you can also marinate yourself, or your computer?
Does mass tourism have an impact on the whiteness of my teeth?
Those senseless questions are often the base of my research and final work.

I'm inspired by my daily surroundings and want to experience the change of environment, coming from a Dutch culture, diving into the heart of surrealism, Spain. I like to collaborate with artists, share visons and extract topics which are relevant for my future practice.
